Note: Boulder classes represent a range of sizes and weights, so some overlap between classes is normal — pricing reflects the specific class selected, not an individual boulder's exact weight. Special equipment (skid steer, forklift, or similar heavy machinery) is required to move and place boulders of any size in this lineup, including our smallest accent classes. We cannot guarantee that any boulder can be safely moved by hand. Please plan for appropriate equipment access at your project site before ordering, and let our team know your site conditions so we can help you plan delivery and placement.

Product details, what you should know

  • Sizing: Sold by Boulder Class Size, with weight ranges as shown above. Photos represent the general look of this material — exact size, shape, and color will vary from boulder to boulder within a given class.
  • Cleanliness: Natural quarried stone with occasional dirt or dust on the surface from handling; a light rinse will restore true color.
  • Appearance: Fractured boulders featuring a warm blend of cream and tan, with rust-orange and gold staining running through the fractures on many pieces. Colors deepen and become more vibrant when wet.
  • History: Material has remained generally consistent in color and character over time. The cream and tan blend with rust-orange and gold staining is typical of this stone, matching the same material used in our smaller Roman Cobble.
  • Also known as: Commonly referred to as feature boulders, accent boulders, or landscape boulders.

RockOn.com’s Insight

Roman Boulders bring the same clean, sun-bleached cream and tan character as our smaller Roman Cobble, but at true feature-boulder scale. The warm rust-orange and gold staining keeps the look natural and varied rather than flat or uniform, making it a versatile choice for entryway features, retaining walls, or dry creek beds. Because every boulder is one-of-a-kind, we strongly recommend visiting in person to hand-select the specific pieces for your project. Please note: boulders of any size — even our smallest 1′–1.5′ accent class — require special equipment to move and place. Plan for the right machinery and site access before ordering.

Natural Material Variation Notice

Natural Material Variation Notice

This is a natural stone product. Color, size, shape, and texture may vary from load to load and may differ from photos shown on our website. The class size and the size range specified is usually based on ASTM sizing and grades however not every product goes through initial or constant testing. There may be pieces that measure longer than what is specified in the size range since the max size is usually based on the largest size of the screen that the rock passes through and longer pieces may "thread" through. If your project requires a specific sizing and a gradation the meets certain requirements please contact us. Lighting conditions, cleanliness, moisture, and source location can also affect appearance.

Photos and descriptions are provided as general examples only. We recommend viewing material in person before purchasing when exact color or appearance is important.
