We are a couple close to retirement age who just moved into a new house. We do not want to spend a lot of time taking care of the lawn. And I really dislike wood mulch. In the last house we had, the wood mulch had to be replaced every year or two, would blow around in the wind, etc. In our new place, we have replaced the grass in our park strip and the wood mulch in the garden areas with the black lava rock. It looks great and is maintenance free. It was a pleasure dealing with the company as they delivered the next day after ordering and placed the lava rock literally just a few feet away from where we needed it. My only note of caution: we ordered as much as we thought we needed, based on square footage and a depth of 4 inches. We still ended up a little bit short and I had to run out to the site in Herriman and fill up the back of my SUV with a little more lava rock. So order more than you think you're going to need.
