Installation Depth Guide — Cubic Yard Coverage for 3″–8″ Royal Cobble

Note: Because individual stones can measure up to 8″, a typical installation depth is 7-8 inches for this rock — enough to fully bed the largest pieces. Installing shallower than 6 inches will leave larger stones sitting loosely on top of the base rather than nested in, which can cause shifting and an uneven surface. Some pieces may fall outside the stated range as part of the natural mix. When in doubt, test a small section first.

Product details, what you should know

• Sizing: Wide mixed range from 3" to 8", combining mid-sized pieces with large statement stones in every load. Some pieces may fall outside this range as part of the natural mix.
• Cleanliness: Unwashed material with a light presence of fines (typically less than 10%). Fines from production, handling, and transport are normal.
• Appearance: Fractured stone featuring a cool gray base, with rust-tan and white mineral crusting appearing on many faces. Colors deepen and become more vibrant when wet. Color may vary slightly between loads.
• History: Material has remained generally consistent in size and color over time. The gray base with rust-tan and white mineral accents is typical of this stone, matching the same material used in our 1½″ Royal Gravel at a larger scale.
• Also known as: Commonly referred to as large rip rap or crushed accent stone.
